Hindu-Muslim thing: Why even the sensible among us feel a sense of fear

You fear because a sense of fear has been created by the media as if these things are happening everyday, everywhere. The thing is, there are lynchings, and media as well as the victims make it a 'beef' issue.

This is done to get air time. Then, the propagandists get at work and churn the news in such a way that people like you and me start thinking that it's happening.

Look around yourself. Do you see any Hindu discriminating Muslims in face? Do you see Muslims stabbing Hindus or vice versa? Do you see someone staring to abuse someone because he has a scull cap?

That doesn't happen in real life. If at all it happens some day, it will be due to the hype and negativity created by media. They want this hatred to spread and people riot. That's the whole point because they can stoop to any low to question this government on the communal lines.

Sadly for them, they expected riots with Hindus running with naked swords driving the Muslims away from India, the expectation didn't become a reality. That's why they are continuing the campaign at every instance.

Mobs are not new to India. And again, the conclusion that the mobs feel a sense of legitimacy as government is not doing anything is also a wrong one.

I will rather take a line that it is just being played more as against earlier. I can give you data of lynchings which are communal, but of the other kind. The kind where Muslims lynched Hindus. Mob lynchings are pretty much at constant rate before and after Modi.

The thing is it is being shown, reported. Remember Nirbhaya? After her, for three months it was as if Indians were just raping anyone on street. Why? Because such events were making the headlines instead of the usual inside pages.

There is a huge politics. The sentence that you use is the one that's being said over and over again. Who gave legitimacy to lynching of Fayaz, Kashmiri army officer, or DSP Ayub Khan? Who gave legitimacy to several lynchings in Bengal?

Mob mentality is such strong that yesterday five Brahmins were lynched in Raibareli by Yadavs over land dispute. Reverse it, Brahmins lynching Yadavs, and you will see it as headline.

So be smart, look beyond the headlines, look in to the reason and timings. Look between the issues. India is still very tolerant.
